While our first two brunch experiences have already passed (Johns Street Cafe and Slappy Cakes) we would like to share how our experiences were there. The first brunch was at Johns Street Cafe. This was favorite brunch spot of Lauren's and she wanted to start off the adventure with something familiar and bound to please. While sitting in the small cafe in St. Johns it was there that the three discovered their love for brunch and knew that this would need to become a weekly outing. Slappy Cakes was chosen as our second place. Up on Belmont in SE Portland, the place offers a fun environment that allows you to make your own pancakes (or slappy cakes) by choosing from about 3-4 different batters and a variety of add-in both savory and sweet and then some different choices for toppings. While reading The Mercury the three also came up with some fun nicknames of Hot Cheese, MUJ and Loose Pancake :)
